1935 Hoard's Dairyman Commemorative Paperweight
Donor: Corey A. Geiger, Hoard's Dairyman. This paperweight commemorates the 50th anniversary of Hoard's Dairyman in 1935. This is a quite rare piece only recently found in the company's vault. Hoard's has never donated one to an event. The paperweight is 7" long by 2" deep and has engraved photos of Hoard's founder, W.D. Hoard, and his son, Frank, who was the second person to run the magazine. Estimated Value: $200.00

Antique Dairy Puzzles
Donor: Dr. and Mrs. George Somkuti. Two wooden color puzzles from France, each 5 ½" by 11 1/4", depicting Dutch dairy scenes. Both are signed by the artist M. Legrain, and one has an imprint on it, "L. Murat, Paris", probably the name of the manufacturer. The puzzles are in excellent shape and are estimated to originate from the 1900-1920 period. There is also a solid cardboard to go with the puzzles, depicting the same scene shown on one of the puzzles. It may have been a template but it is more likely a boxtop that survived the ravages of time. Estimated Value: $300.00 each

Babcock Bottles
Donor: Virginia Tech Department of Dairy Science. Virginia Tech pulled these Babcock bottles from their archives. As many as you'd like, offered in lots of six. Estimated Value: $10.00/6

Bell with Cow Silhouette
Donor: Lee and Judy Majeskie. Wrought-iron, wall mounted bracket with bell. The bracket features a cow silhouette on top. Estimated Value: $60.00

Bell-Shaped Butter Mold
Donor: Dr. and Mrs. George Somkuti. One bell shaped wooden butter mold, ca. 3 ½" diameter, with a swan motif. It has a hairline crack (repairable). Estimated Value: $75.00

Borden's Milk Bottle
Donor: Charles E. Iager & family. From their outstanding collection, a 1930 mint condition Borden's milk bottle embossed and ribbed. The "Gail Borden Eagle Brand Trademark" appears on the bottle. This is a special bottle for any collector. Estimated Value: $175.00

Butter Scraper
Donor: Gint Behrens, Land O'Lakes, Inc.. This wooden butter scraper is 10" long and in excellent condition. Estimated Value: $10.00

Chr. Hansen's Ceramic Jug
Donor: Bob Sellars. This jug is one-gallon size and has the wording, "Chr. Hansen's Lab, Rennet Extract, Butter Color, Cheese Color, Little Falls, NY U.S.A" Estimated Value: $100.00

Chr. Hansen's Laboratories Collectible Plates, Series from 1980-1988
Donor: Bob Sellars. This nearly complete set of collector series plates is only missing the first plate in the series, 1979. Chr. Hansen's created these plates to honor pioneers of the dairy industry. Estimated Value: $20 each

Collapsible Butter Mold
Donor: Gint Behrens, Land O'Lakes, Inc.. This wooden butter mold dates back to the early 1900's and has two side pieces which are connected by screw and hooks. The print features four flowers. The mold has signs of use but is in good condition. Estimated Value: $100.00

Cow & Calf Woodcarving by Glenn McCune
Donor: Bob Sellars. This exquisite hand-carving of a cow nuzzling her calf was created by renowned fold woodcarver Glenn McCune. The Sellars' were the original owners of this carving, which was commissioned by ADSA for sale during the 1995 ADSA Foundation Auction. They have donated it back to ADSA in the hope that others may enjoy its beauty. Estimated Value: Priceless!

DeLaval Miniature Cream Separator
Donor: Dave Dickson. Only a limited number of 1/7 scale DeLaval toy separators were made by Ertl Toy Company. The model is very detailed, complete with a pair of milk buckets, an operating handle, a milk can, and authentic graphics. Estimated Value: $100.00

Dunloggin Milk Bottle
Donor: Charles E. Iager & family. Again, the Iager family has donated quality, hard to find items, starting with a 1939 half-pint embossed Dunloggin milk bottle in excellent condition. This unique bottle has logs embossed in the glass around the top of the bottle with "Dunloggin" appearing in the logs. The Dunloggin Registered herd was located in Ellicott City, Maryland and was one of the finest registered herds in the country (See Holstein Friesian History.) The herd was dispersed September 15-16, 1943 and the sale was written up in Life Magazine. A must for any collector! Estimated Value: $150.00

Hand-Crank Centrifuge
Donor: Dr. and Mrs. George Somkuti. Hand-cranked Babcock centrifuge with four bottles used years ago to test milk. Estimated Value: $150.00

"Herediscope" to Demonstrate Mendelian Heredity
Donor: Anonymous. What a find! This unique and interesting item is one of a kind and a must for a collector of genetic or scientific memorabilia. The Herediscope, similar in appearance to a Monopoly board, is a device for demonstrating Mendelian heredity. Included is a 16-page reprint from the Journal of Heredity, Vol. 20, No. 9, September 1929 that describes the Herediscope and how it is used to demonstrate heredity. It was produced and distributed by the American Genetic Association, Washington, D.C. Estimated Value: $200.00

Ice Cream Dipper
Donor: Bill & Sue Sandine. This 1880's Victorian-era tin cone-shaped ice cream dipper has a working turn-key mechanism for releasing ice cream. Estimated Value: $60.00

Langlois Cheese Makers Paperweight
Donor: Bill and Sue Sandine. Prior to a devastating fire in the early 1950's, the Langlois Cheese Company was famous for very high quality blue cheese, which was featured on the menu of the Waldorf Astoria Hotel. This paperweight commemorates the significant role this company had in the manufacturing of fine cheeses. The paperweight is round with a green velvet bottom and features a Viking ship and the words, "Langlois Cheese Makers, Langlois, Oregon." Estimated Value: $200.00

Liberty Glass Pint Milk Bottles
Donor: Gary Hanman, Mid America Dairymen, Inc.. Mid-America Dairymen, Inc. has donated Liberty glass pint milk bottles that date back to the World War I era. One price can buy up to six bottles! Estimated Value: $10.00 per bottle

Lily Ice Cream Mold
Donor: Bill & Sue Sandine. This #354 pewter ice cream mold is shaped like a delicate lily, producing a lovely ice cream treat. Hinges are in excellent working condition. Has the wording, "354" and "E & Co., NY" cast in the mold. Estimated Value: $100.00

Limited Edition Bonnie Mohr Dairy Breeds Print
Donor: Purina Mills, Inc. Purina Mills commissioned artist Bonnie Mohr to do this print depicting the dairy cattle breeds. It is matted, framed, signed and numbered. Estimated Value: $200.00

Limited Edition Collector Plates by Lowell Herrero
Donor: Howard and Ruby Larson. From the Franklin Mint American Folk Art Collection come two limited edition titled, "Hillside Herd" and "Bessie's Barn." These collector plates by folk artist Lowell Herrero are signed and numbered. Complete with certificates of authenticity and in original boxes. Estimated Value: $85.00

Milk Pitcher Set
Donor: Gint Behrens, Land O'Lakes, Inc.. Set of three simple, very traditional white stoneware milk pitchers from the 1920's to 1930's in varying sizes, 9" tall, 5" tall and 4" tall. Estimated Value: $200.00

Milk Sample Box
Donor: Charles E. Iager & family. The plywood mailing box is complete with nine very unusual tin milk sample containers and a sample dipper. The mailing box shows signs of wear; the containers are in excellent condition. Estimated Value: $200.00

Miniature Chr. Hansen Jugs
Donor: Bob Sellars. This pair of jugs are miniature replicas of the Chr. Hansen's five-gallon jugs used years ago. Estimated Value: $20.00 for the pair

Model 30 Dazey Churn
Donor: George Muck. This four paddle #30 churn is in excellent condition. The name, "Dazey" can be seen in a circle on the face of the glass container. There are no names or numbers on the bottom side of the glass. Estimated Value: $300.00

Pair of Cow Butter Molds
Donor: Dr. and Mrs. George Somkuti. One pair of wooden butter molds, ca. 4" diameter, with a cow motif. Excellent shape, offered as a pair. Estimated Value: $175.00

Rectangular Butter Mold with Case
Donor: Ken Cummings. The mold features a well-carved double wheat design, Prob. Pennsylvania. Dates back to the last quarter of the 19th Century. Very good condition. Estimated Value: $150-200

Reversible Wall Hanging
Donor: Howard and Ruby Larson. Reversible wall hanging is made in the traditional log cabin design. A lovely accent for the Christmas holiday season. Reverse the wall hanging for a pastoral cow scene. Measures 30" x 30" and comes complete with the dowel for hanging. Estimated Value: $100.00

Set of Individual Coffee Creamers
Donor: Howard and Ruby Larson. In the "good old days" if you ordered a cup of coffee with cream, you received an individual creamer along with your cup of coffee. Here are six "antique" individual coffee creamers packed in a wooden box from the Milwaukee Cheese Company. Estimated Value: $70.00

Swiss Cow Bell
Donor: Ken Cummings. Brass Swiss cow bell measures 5" tall. The date of "1878" and words "Saignelecier" and "Chiantel Fondeur" are a part of the casting. Excellent condition. Comes with a well used leather strap. Estimated Value: $125.00

Donor: Dr. and Mrs. George Somkuti. One 4" diameter wooden butter mold with thistle motif, excellent shape. Estimated Value: $100.00

Trip to 2001 ADSA - ASAS - PSA Joint Meeting
Donor: American Dairy Science Association. For the eighth year, ADSA is pleased to offer a hassle-free trip to the ADSA Annual Meeting. In 2001, ADSA will be celebrating a historic event, the first meeting of FASS members. The meeting will be held in Indianapolis, Indiana and will include the memberships of FASS co-members American Society of Animal Science and Poultry Science Association. Package includes hotel accommodations and meeting registration. (Travel not included.) Estimated Value: $825.00

U.S. Naval Academy Dairy Milk Cartons
Donor: Lee and Judy Majeskie. This is the final offering from the Majeskie's collection of US Naval Academy Milk Cartons. A rare collector's find. Two U.S. Naval Academy ½ gallon milk cartons, sealed and in "mint" condition. The "Beat Army" was only printed on the milk cartons once a year when milk was processed during the week prior to the Army vs. Navy football game. With the U.S. Naval Academy dairy closed, this colorful carton will gain in value and should be a great addition to any dairy collection. Estimated Value: $150.00

Wine Glass Set from 1986 ADSA Meeting at UC-Davis
Donor: John Bruhn. In 1986, ADSA convened at the University of California -- Davis for the 81st Annual Meeting. These wine glasses were given to meeting registrants to commemorate the meeting. Set includes 12 wine glasses. Estimated Value: $60.00

Donor: Gint Behrens, Land O'Lakes, Inc. This early 1900's rectangular-shaped mold measures 5 ½" wide by 3" deep by 4 ½" tall has a sturdy brass top. In great condition! Estimated Value: $100.00
