Maple Leaf Bio-Concept President to Speak at
ADSA-ASAS Joint Annual Meeting

John P. Oliver, president of Maple Leaf Bio-Concept will headline the opening session of the 2002 ADSA-ASAS Joint Annual Meeting held at the Quebec City Convention Center, July 21-25, 2002 in Quebec City, Canada.

In 1965, Oliver joined Eli Lily in agricultural promotion and advertising. After holding several marketing positions, Oliver became the Director of Elanco Products in 1971 and Vice-President of Eli Lilly Canada in 1976.

In 1989, Oliver became President of DowElanco Canada, Inc., a joint venture between Dow Chemical and Eli Lilly to research, manufacture and market crop protection and plant biotechnology products.

Oliver is a founding member of the Canadian Agri-Marketing Association, past chairman of the Crop Protection Institute, and the Canadian Animal Health Institute. He also serves as a member of the Agricultural Institute of Canada, Board of Governors of the University of Guelph and held several positions on corporate boards including Chairman, and Director.

In 1997 he combined his interest in biotechnology and government affairs into two consulting firms: Maple Leaf Bio-Concepts and Lojon Associates International. The interests of these companies include:

· Promoting agriculture and its contributions to Canadian society
· Making Canadians aware of the opportunity agricultural biotechnology represents for the 21st century.
· Recognizing the contribution of science to our well-being and standard of living
· Observing and trying to understand politicians and the reason for their actions
